Tell Your Story (with a chance to win)

Talia’s Voice is already coming into contact with other non-profits that are working to improve the patient experience. Our particular focus at Talia’s Voice is on bringing about a culture change where communication and listening (at all levels of care!) are at the heart of medical practice. Just in the weeks since we started our work publicly, we’ve heard from individuals who want to “do something” and other organizations that already are. We just received an email from the directors of Patients’ View Institute, and they are looking for your story! Check out their website for more information about their organization, but here is a specific opportunity open to all.

Patient’s View Institute says:

Patient and family stories are critically important to the national conversation about patient experience. They make other patients realize they’re not alone in their journeys, remind our care teams of the extraordinary and unforgettable impact they can have in our lives, and “keep it real” in policy and practice.

Like many working to achieve the highest quality of patient care, our organization, the Patients’ View Institute (PVI) believes passionately that the feedback of patients and families themselves, in their own words, is the ultimate gauge of the patient experience. To this end, PVI has been collecting patient stories (1200 to date), and we are coming up on our annual celebration honoring the most impactful among them.

PVI invites you to be part of this year’s Patients’ View Impact Awards. Winners in each category receive $1,000 and paid travel to the awards event, which will again be held again this year with the Leapfrog Group during their Top Hospital Awards ceremony in Washington, DC.

PVI would love for you to enter your story, but also to help spread the word so others can do the same. Here’s a Facebook blurb ready-made for sharing on FB:

Impactful, heartwarming, frustrating, motivating, inspiring, heart-wrenching, enlightening, educating, powerful… Do any of these words describe your #patient experience? Do all of them? Patients’ View Institute and The Leapfrog Group are now accepting entries to the 2017 Patients’ View Impact Awards, where they honor patients and families whose experiences can help shape healthcare for the better. Please share your story at Winners receive $1,000 and paid travel to the awards ceremony. #PVImpact17
